A series of intimate live-to-air radio recitals from Australia’s next generation of concert performers, exclusive to 3MBSFM.

Since March 2007, 'Live at the Convent’ has been presenting the next generation of Australia’s musical talent in live performance every Tuesday at 1:30pm. 

These recitals are of approximately 60-minutes in duration and are performed from 3MBS FM’s state-of-the-art Marigold Southey Performance studio. Musicians include students from the Australian National Academy of Music, The Faculty of the VCA and Music, the University of Melbourne (Parkville and Southbank campuses), Monash University School of Music Conservatorium and the University of Tasmania Conservatorium of Music.

The only way you can hear these exclusive performances is by tuning in to 3MBS on 103.5MHz in Victoria or anywhere else via our web stream 3mbs.org.au/listen

‘Live at the Convent’ is part of the 3MBS FM Radio and Music Education Program.  The education program offers unique opportunities for classical music students to explore career pathways in broadcasting through places in our Certificate III in Media (Radio Broadcasting) courses and to experience the thrill of performing live-to-air in a high-end studio environment. Since 2007, over 70 music students from Melbourne and Monash University have completed the Certificate III course and have stayed involved presenting live broadcasts as ‘Night Owls’ (Thursdays midnight-2am), outside broadcasts and interviewing many local and international artists.

The course is offered exclusively to tertiary music students as a nationally accredited training course, delivered in partnership with the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA).
