Composer Award

Entries are now being accepted for the 2007 National Composer Awards.

Open to all Australian residents, 3MBS is looking for original scores not previously performed in public.

This unique award has been developed by 3MBS in association with Orchestra Victoria, Betty Amsden OAM, APRA, the Arts Centre & the Robert Salzer Foundation to promote and develop Australian composers and showcase their orchestral works.

The $6000 Betty Amsden Award is offered for the winning entry and, an additional $2000 will be awarded to a second composer for the APRA Encouragement Award.

Closing date for entries is 5.00pm Wednesday 4th April 2007.

The winning composition will be performed in a spectacular concert - at the 8th Classically Melbourne Free Concert. Orchestra Victoria takes to the stage, under the baton of the internationally renowned Marco Zuccarini.

Where: Hamer Hall, the Arts Centre
Cost: FREE (however booking is essential)

Tickets will be available in July.
