Medieval Spanish music reflecting the interaction between Christian, Moslem and Jewish people living on the Iberian peninsula before 1492. The program features the complete set of 14th-century songs celebrating the Virgin Mary, preserved in the Llibre Vermell held in the monastic library at Montserrat, a selection from Cantigas de Santa Maria (collected 1221-84) as well as Sephardic Jewish pieces.
Soloists—soprano Amanda Hargreaves and baritone Alex Owens, with instruments typically used in medieval Spain.
