In celebration of Jean Sibelius's 159th birthday, Trio Anima Mundi performed his Piano Trio in A minor - 'Haftrask', live to air during Melbourne in Concert on Sunday, December 8th, Sibelius's birthday.
Trio Anima Mundi - Kenji Fujimura (piano), Rochelle Ughetti (violin), Noella Yan (cello) - is renowned for their ‘vitality, charm, and aplomb’ (The Age) and ‘consistently affectionate performances' (Grpmophone).
They are recognised for their Piano Trio Archaeology – rediscovering forgotten works of yesteryear. Their debut CD – Romantic Piano Trios – was a Musicweb International Recording of the Year and described as ‘the CD of the year and, perhaps, many years to come’ by Wright Music, UK. Their second CD – English Piano Trios – featuring all world-first recordings, was a featured Classical Album on Apple Music and an Audiophile Essential by Hi-Res Audio, Germany, with critics pmazed at ‘their brilliant interpretation’ (Musicweb International) and ‘outstanding performances’ (Fanfare).
2024 saw the release of the first volume of the recording of the complete (27) piano trios by Carl Reissiger. In 2025 they continue their exploration with rare performances of ‘fantasies’ by Bridge, Krenek, Schumann, Verne-Bredt, alongside Faure, Mendelssohn, Ravel, and Schubert.
