3MBS Melbourne 103.5FM and Justin Art House Museum present Shaping Soundscapes 2.0—the next chapter in this innovative series where visual art and music converge.
Curated by Mee Na Lojewski and Nicholas Waters, Affinity Quartet places chamber music in dialogue with photography. Responding to JAHM’s 2026 exhibition, Photography: Seeing is Believing, by exploring affinities between these two intimate art forms, the program presents string quartet works that harmonise and contrast with the photographs.
Both art forms are shaped by finely tuned tools that guide artistic intent and invite close attention; their meanings are never fixed. Each photographer and composer offers a personal truth, and each viewer or listener completes the work through their own perceptions. In music, this exchange gains another layer: Affinity Quartet’s interpretation of a composer’s score becomes an indelible link in the chain of artistic intent.
Spanning musical works by Beethoven through to contemporary voices, we invite you to listen, look, and experience these points of affinity with Affinity Quartet at JAHM.
Ticket prices include refreshments in the JAHM apartment after the performance.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body.
