Holy Week Lunchtime Concert: The Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah

Will Fellows directs a contemplative selection of sacred choral works, performed by some of Melbourne's finest tenors and basses. Manuel de Sumaya's Lamentationes de Jeremiae is a rarely performed work using text from the Book of Lamentations. Josquin des Prez's Absalon fili mi is a deeply moving setting of King David’s lament for his son Absalom. Thomas Tallis’s Lamentations of Jeremiah I forms part of a larger setting of texts from the Book of Lamentations, traditionally sung during Holy Week.
