The 3MBS Victorian Young Performer Award (YPA), one of Victoria’s most respected classical music competitions, returns on 18 October 2026.
Each year, four outstanding young musicians are selected as finalists, representing piano, strings, woodwind and brass, and voice. They perform in a live adjudicated recital before a panel of distinguished Australian performers, composers, teachers and conductors, with the opportunity to have their talent recognised at an important stage in their musical development.
For emerging musicians, opportunities like the YPA can be an important stepping stone towards a professional career. The experience of performing in a competitive environment, receiving feedback from leading figures in the Australian classical music community and having their achievements recognised can help young artists build confidence and take the next step in their musical journey.
