Helena Dix

Helena Dix co-hosts Vocal Chords this Saturday

In a very special edition of Vocal Chords this Saturday 12 October at 1pm, Sam Alfreds is joined in the studio by 'International Diva from Down Under' Helena Dix Soprano FRAM.

For emerging singers, this is an episode NOT TO MISS. Helena will co-host the program alongside Sam, sharing her wealth of knowledge on how to navigate the professional operatic circuit.

Helena Dix has performed on operatic stages all over the world including New York, London, Karlsruhe, Brussels, San Francisco, Nüremberg, Seattle, Scotland and her beloved Melbourne!

Dix is known for her roles in the bel canto repertoire, with reviewer Hugh Canning writing "Dix is on the way to cult Diva status in this repertoire." Recently she starred in the world premiere of Nostalgia at La Monnaie in Brussels, and was thrilled when the reviewer from Opera World not only complimented her vocal capability but also called her 'young'. Since then, she has focused less on 'anti-aging night cream', and more on taking on outrageous operatic characters, such as Musetta in her recent stint with Melbourne Opera.

Helena loves to use her social media platforms and her effervescent personality to talk openly about life on the operatic stage, and the truths that exist in the current climate. Helena was awarded a fellowship from The Royal Academy of Music for her service to music and her ability to sing high notes softly. She has a strong desire to one day retire and travel the world looking for the best tiramisu recipe whilst learning to draw.
