Chai Jie Low (piano)

Chai Jie Low is currently a PhD candidate and Teaching Associate at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. In 2022 – 23, she completed postgraduate study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. At the age of 16, Chai Jie made her concerto debut performing Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with the Queensland Pops Orchestra. She has previously performed live on 3MBS Melbourne 103.5FM as part of The Talent program.

As a soloist, Chai Jie has performed at the New York City Yamaha Piano Salon, Milton Court Concert Hall, St James' Sussex Gardens, Westminster Music Library, Melbourne Recital Centre, Sydney Masonic Centre, and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. She is a recipient of numerous accolades including the Athenaeum Club Instrumental Soloist Prize, Catherine Grace McWilliam Prize, Florence Menk Meyer Prize, DW Gardiner Memorial Award, Katharine Ellis Memorial Award, Grace Funston Scholarship and Alan McKay Pianoforte Scholarship.  

Rollin Zhao (violin)

Rollin Zhao enjoys an extensive career as a performer and educator. Rollin regularly plays with the Queensland, Sydney, and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) and Melbourne Chamber Orchestra. As one of the top emerging string players in Australia, Rollin was selected as an ACO Emerging Artist in 2017 and a Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellow in 2018, allowing him to train alongside Australia’s premier music ensembles.

Rollin is a graduate of both the University of Queensland (First Class Honours) and Australian National Academy of Music. He is a recipient of numerous accolades, including the Richard Pollett Memorial Award, Howard and Gladys Sleath Scholarship, 4MBS Sid Page Chamber Music Prize, and the Ursula Hoff Institute Prize. Rollin has been broadcast on SBS Radio, ABC Classic FM, 2MBS Fine Music Sydney, and 3MBS Melbourne 103.5FM.

A passionate performer-educator, he is a regular tutor with the ACO Academy, Melbourne Youth Orchestra, Melbourne String Ensemble and frequent guest mentor on the 3MBS's The Talent series. 

Joshua Dema (cello)

Joshua Dema holds a Masters of Music with distinction from DePaul University (Chicago), a Bachelor of Music from the University of Melbourne and was awarded the Australian Licentiate of Music (LMusA) with distinction. In 2014 Joshua was a prize winner in the Hepzibah Menuhin competition, his string quartet were finalists in the 2014 Musica Viva Chamber Music Award, and placed second in the 2013 University of Melbourne Chamber Music Competition.

Joshua is a casual cellist with Orchestra Victoria, and maintains a schedule of chamber music recitals. Highlights include performances at Hamer Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre, National Gallery of Victoria, The Australian Festival of Chamber Music (Townsville), MIMIR Chamber Music Festival (Texas), Pacific Association of Music Schools Summit (Beijing), Lev Aronson Legacy Festival (Dallas), the Mount Buller Chamber Music Festival and Australian Youth Orchestra. Joshua performs regularly on 3MBS Melbourne 103.5FM.

Joshua’s mentors have included Brant Taylor (Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Zoe Knighton (Flinders Quartet), Howard Penny (ANAM). He received numerous awards during his studies including the Lionel Gell Foundation Scholarship, the Kate Flowers Scholarship, the Otti Veit Violoncello Scholarship, the Corinna D'Hage String Scholarship and twice received the Alexander Kirstein Scholarship for International Students.

Alongside his career as a musician, Josh also works as a UX Researcher at a health-tech company in Melbourne.
