In our eighth episode of the season, we will feature guzhengist Hannah Liu and pianist Yukina Tiong who will play programmes including works by Ding Feng Bo, Mozart, Albéniz, and Glinka. Continue reading to learn more about Hannah and Yukina.
Hannah Liu
Hannah began learning the Guzheng at the age of four and a half. She has been studying this instrument for over seven years since then and passed her Grade 10 examination, equivalent to the AMEB Level 10 test, at the age of ten. Additionally, she won the Solo First Prize at the 2023 Shanghai International Music Festival. Her Guzheng teacher, Xue Chen, is a professional with a strong background in the instrument and has appeared on Chinese television arts programs.
Hannah’s second instrument is the flute, which she has been learning for two years. She is scheduled to take the AMEB Level 7 test later this year. Her flute teacher, Johanna Selleck, is exceptional.

Yukina Tiong
Yukina is a pianist who started her music journey when she was five years old. Her inspiration to become a pianist started when she listened to her grandparents playing the piano. She was drawn to the instrument and as such started taking lessons with her teacher Ms Yii Ying Tan.
By the age of 12, Yukina has already received Honours in her Year 8 AMEB exam and has recently participated in competitions winning numerous awards such as 2nd in Ringwood Eisteddfod 2024, Silver in 35 and under, Gold Star International and more.
Yukina will perform:
