Kawai Live: Dillon Chan

In partnership with Kawai Australia, 3MBS presents the first Kawai Live Session for 2025 featuring Dillon Chan.

12-year-old Melbourne-born pianist Dillon Chan studies under pianist Ian Munro. He also studies piano chamber music with pianist Caroline Almonte at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music’s Young Chamber Music Academy. A Year 8 student and music scholar at Camberwell Grammar School (CGS), Dillon has honed his chamber music skills through CGS’s Music Academy. Kingussie, his trio at CGS, recently earned the 3MBS Radio Award for Two Best Ensembles in Victoria at the “Strike a Chord” National Chamber Music Competition for Australian school students.

As one of Australia’s leading young generation pianists, Dillon has been selected to serve as a Young Ambassador for the Lang Lang International Music Foundation. In 2022, Dillon won 1st prize at the 29th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Szafarnia, Poland. Most recently, he was awarded 4th prize and a Special Commendation for Young Talents at the prestigious 19th Ettlingen International Piano Competition in Germany. Dillon made his orchestra debut with the Preston Symphony Orchestra at 9 years of age. He has worked with conductors Muhai Tang as a solo pianist and Graham Abbot as an organist. Dillon has also given solo recitals at Steinway Galleries Australia and St Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne.
