Anthony Negus in conversation with Doug Beecroft
Anthony Negus is one of the leading Wagnerian conductors of today. He’s Music Director of Longborough Festival Opera in the UK, and for Melbourne Opera, he’s conducted much of Wagner’s mature repertoire, culminating in triumphant performances of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in February.
As a teenager, Anthony's keen interest led to him being invited to observe Wagner’s Bayreuth Festival from the pit. His significant career was informed by 35 years at Welsh National Opera as Assistant Conductor working alongside Sir Charles Mackerras, Reginald Goodall, Pierre Boulez and many others.
