Dr Jenny Gray AM cares about our relationship with the animal world; so much so that her PhD in Ethics from The University of Melbourne in 2015, posed the question “Is there a moral case for Zoos?”, and she later published the book “Zoo Ethics”.
Jenny grew up in South Africa where she enjoyed exploring wildlife reserves and getting close to animals, but her career took some twists and turns before finding her calling as CEO of Zoos Victoria, which includes Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Open Range Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary.
In the 2024 Australia Day Honours, Jenny was awarded a prestigious Member of the Order of Australia medal for her significant service to wildlife management, and to zoological industry organisations.
