Renowned American pianist and avid chamber musician, Garrick Ohlsson has performed many times in Australia with symphony orchestras and touring with Musica Viva. A multi-award-winning performer and recording artist, he won the 1970 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw at the age of 22, a Grammy award in 2008 and a Gramophone Award (with the Takács Quartet) in 2021.
Garrick Ohlsson has developed a wide repertoire during his illustrious career, which includes Beethoven, Liszt, Brahms and Scriabin, as well as contemporary compositions. He continues his interest in Chopin with a new critical edition of a recently discovered Waltz in A minor, which he authenticated and prepared for publication (Henle Verlag, 2025).
In October this year, he chaired the jury for the 2025 International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, a prestigious event where he is the first non-Polish Head Juror.
