James Ehnes CM in conversation with Doug Beecroft

James Ehnes CM (Canada) is one of the world’s greatest violinists, known for his stunning virtuosity, lyricism and musicality.  He’s a favourite guest of many of the world’s great conductors and orchestras, and this year, he’s the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's Artist in Residence.  

He has an extensive recording catalogue and has won many awards, including two Grammys and three Gramophone Awards. He was active during the COVID pandemic, recording and streaming “Recitals from Home” to the world.

James is a Member of the Order of Canada and the Order of Manitoba, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and an honorary fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, where he's a Visiting Professor.  He's also recently become a Professor of Practice in Violin at Indiana University.

In this program James talks with Doug Beecroft about his highly focused approach to music making, and the joys and challenges of maintaining a career at the top.
