One in five young people will have experienced a depressive episode by the time they turn 18, and 50% of Australians will, at some point in their lives, experience “mental ill-health”.   

Professor Patrick McGorry AO, is a psychiatrist known worldwide for his innovation in youth mental health and the development of youth mental health services.  He’s Professor of Youth Mental Health at the University of Melbourne and founding member of headspace (the National Youth Mental Health Foundation).  He’s also a world-leading researcher in his field, and in 2010, he was named Australian of the Year for his services to youth mental health and appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia.
