Zinaida Campion
Zinaida Campion is a Geelong-based emerging soprano. Raised in Winchelsea in a family of classical music lovers, she has drawn constant inspiration from the life and art of legendary soprano Marjorie Lawrence, who hailed from the area. Educated first in a Steiner school, then at home, she has studied classical voice with multi award-winning soprano Lee Abrahmsen since the age of 13. Equally experienced as soloist and chorister, she has sung with various choirs over the years, including Trinity College Chapel Choir, and the Windfire Chamber Choir, where she has held a vocal scholarship since 2023.
Zinaida is a member of VOYCE (Victorian Opera) and collaborates with acclaimed organist/pianist Victoria Hay as the dynamic new classical duo, Cecilia’s Daughters. She has won awards in eisteddfods and enjoys performing as a freelance singer.
Zinaida uses her skills in organizing concerts to promote classical music in rural areas, a cause close to her heart. With Cecilia’s Daughters she has given two recitals to raise much needed funds for the restoration of two heritage churches in rural Victoria.
She has a strong background in ancient and modern languages, has a keen interest in fashion, and is currently enrolled in equine studies.
Zinaida will perform:
- W.A.Mozart: Welche wonne, welche lust (The Abduction from the Seraglio)
- W.A.Mozart: S’altro che lagrime (la Clemenza di Tito)
- A.Copland: Laurie’s Song
- G.Verdi: Volta la terrea (Un ballo in Maschera)
With associate artist Victoria May
