The Talent Episode 10: pianists Noreen Suyudy and Seth Raudam

We have made it to the tenth and final heats episode of the season with performances this week by pianists Noreen Suyudy and Seth Raudam playing programmes with works by Mirrie Hill, Grazyna Bacewicz, Carl Vine, and Alberto Ginastera.  Keep reading to learn more about Noreen and Seth.

Noreen Suyudy

Piano

Noreen Suyudy is an Indonesian pianist, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (Class of 2026) under the guidance of Prof. Glenn Riddle. Prior to her undergraduate studies, Noreen was taught by Ms. Vanessa Tunggal, Dr. Pinkcheer Tamio and Mr. Randy Ryan, performing in the Jakarta Conservatorium of Music Carnival of the Animals orchestra and presented her first solo recital,  She also achieved a near-perfect score of 149/150 in the ABRSM Grade 8 Piano Performance Exam and is a recipient of the Grace Funston Scholarship, awarded by the University of Melbourne in recognition of her pianistic excellence. In 2021, she placed 2nd in the International Grand Music Festival Competition and 3rd in the Trinity Youth Symphony Orchestra – Youth Piano Concerto Competition in 2022. Noreen hopes to tell a story through her music and share her deep admiration and love for the art. She enjoys performing a wide range of works, particularly those composed by women, with her favorite composer being Cécile Chaminade. She also enjoys contemporary classical works influenced by Japanese culture, drawing inspiration from composers such as Joe Hisaishi and Ryuichi Sakamoto when she creates her own music.

Seth Raudam

Piano

Seth Raudam began his musical journey at the age of 11, playing the piano and composing, and soon realised it was his life's dedication. He began using a small electric keyboard, then driven by his passion, he eventually saved up for an acoustic piano which he financed through the help of an online fundraising campaign.

Seth achieved an AMusA Diploma with Distinction at 15, is part of Melbourne Recital Centre's Accelerando Program and has won numerous awards in various Eisteddfods and competitions, earning adjudication scores as high as 98 points.

As a composer, he has written a 20-minute Piano Sonata titled “Mystic Grove” which he was invited to perform on 3MBS Radio after winning the 2023 Musical Society of Victoria’s David Henkles Composition Award. He is currently being mentored by Carl Vine AO.
