The Talent Episode 4: violinist Daniel Feng & horn player Hannah Lin

This week’s episode will feature performances from violinist Daniel Feng and horn player Hannah Lin. Their programmes will feature works from composers including Brahms, Strauss, Chloé Charody and more. Continue reading to learn more about Daniel and Hannah.

Daniel Feng

Violin

At the age of 17, Daniel is a dedicated violinist. In 2024, he achieved his LMusA with distinction and received the Robert Stolz Viennese Society Music Scholarship. He has won numerous awards, including first place in the 16 and under category at the Ringwood Eisteddfod and first place in the 18 and under category at the Boroondara Eisteddfod. A keen orchestral player, Daniel has participated in programs such as the ACO Academy and AYO Young Symphonists. In April 2024, he toured Germany and the Czech Republic with the Melbourne String Ensemble, performing with youth orchestras in Leipzig, Liberec, and Stuttgart. He has also enjoyed performing solos at major venues such as the Melbourne Recital Centre. His favourite piece is currently Ravel’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

Hannah Lin

French Horn

A dedicated French hornist and pianist, Hannah Lin began piano at four and horn at nine, with piano shaping her musical foundation. She received distinction for her LMusA and AMusA performances in Horn and holds an AMusA diploma in Piano. Hannah has performed with the Melbourne Youth Orchestra and the MYO x MSO Side-by-Side program. Currently studying classical horn with Roman Ponomariov, she is passionate about expressive, narrative-driven performance and contributing to Australia’s classical music scene. Outside of music, Hannah enjoys running, team sports, sewing, and cooking good food.

  • Catherine Likhuta: Dreams of a Wombat - Movement 1: Wombat Dreaming
