For our sixth episode we’re delighted to welcome hornist Daniel Wang and violinist Beverly Kwan. They will perform programmes featuring the music of Bozza, Franz Strauss, and Sarasate before receiving on-air feedback from mentors. Continue reading to learn more about Daniel and Beverly.

Daniel Wang
Daniel Wang is a 16-year-old French horn player, learning the instrument at the age of eight and studying with the renowned horn teacher Mr. Yang Xiao, whose students have achieved international recognition.
At 13, Daniel was awarded the AMEB LMusA in Horn with Distinction, becoming the youngest recipient of this honour in history and is a Year 10 student at Scotch College. He has won numerous prizes, including 1st Place at the Monash Youth Music Festival (2023), 1st Prize in 18th Century Music at the Charleston International Music Competition (2023), and the Mixed Ensemble Prize at Musica Viva’s Strike A Chord (2024).
Daniel has appeared as a soloist with the Scotch College Symphony Orchestra, performing Weber’s Horn Concertino at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin. In 2025, he joined the Australian Youth Orchestra Young Symphonists, performing with outstanding young musicians nationwide.
Beyond that, Daniel is actively involved in chamber music, the Musical Society of Victoria, and community service with the Chinese Stroke Support Group.

Beverly Kwan
Originally from Perth, Beverly is completing a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of Ole Böhn, and is the 2025 Opera Australia violin fellow. She has been a finalist in various national and international competitions, and has won scholarships to attend the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival (Finland) and Kirishima International Music Festival (Japan). Beverly regularly enjoys performing recitals as a soloist, as well as in orchestras such as the Australian Youth Orchestra (international tour and seasons), and the Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra (concertmaster). Her previous teachers include Alice Waten, Paul Wright and Anna Chomicka-Gorecka.
