Linda Dessau AC CVO in conversation with Sarah Barzel

Linda Dessau, AC CVO (left), the former Governor of Victoria, is a distinguished Australian and international jurist. 

In addition to her distinguished career in the law in Hong Kong and Australia, she has been involved in a wide range of community organisations, including as a Commissioner of the Australia Football League, President of the Melbourne International Arts Festival and a Trustee of the National Gallery of Victoria, just to mention a few.  

In 2022, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by LaTrobe University , which included the citation, "an inspiring pioneer and role model for women in leadership through her judicial appointments and in her numerous community roles in service of others”. 

Linda Dessau was appointed a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (named for Queen Victoria, not the state) by Charles III in the 2023 New Year Honours. This award recognises distinguished personal service to the monarch.
